Project No:19022
Title:
Development of materials – donors, aceptors and supports of active substances based on zeolites, bentonites and limestone.
Duration:
24 months
Funds:
Ministry of Science and Technological Development of Republic of Serbia
Institutions:
Institute for Technology of Nuclear and Other Mineral Raw Materials (ITNMS), Belgrade,
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Belgrade
Principal inevestigator:
dr Živko Sekulić
Objective of research:
Objective of this project is development of ecological materials based on natural zeolites, bentonites and limestone for potential practical application in different industries. For development of materials for removal of different pollutants from environment, improvement quality of soils, and/or for application in polymer industry is necesarry to define technical-technological parameters of moification processes or agglomeration of raw materials (zeolites, bentonites and/or limestone). The research conducted under project include:
1. Development of materials for removal of toxic metals (copper, zinc, lead, cadmium, etc.) and inorganic anions (chromates and arsenates) from waters as well as for adsorption of mycotoxins (aflatoxin B1, zearalenone, fumonisin B1, ochratoxin A, etc.) present in animal feed.
2. Development of materials for improvement quality of soils by using agglomeration of limestone.
3. Development of hydrophobic calcite by surface modification of natural limestone with stearic acid for application in polymer industry.
