Project number: TR 20016
Project title: Development and aplication of products based on mineal raw materials in the production of safe food
Duration period: 2008-2010
Funding: Ministry of science and technological development,Republic ofSerbia
Perpetrator: Institute for technology of nuclear and other mineral materials,Belgrade
Head the of the project: Dr Milan Adamović
The aim of the project
The production of food which has hygienically safety and healthiness attributes is restricting of forbidding the use of pesticides/herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, mineral fertilizers, antibiotics, hormones and other chemical compounds. Alternative solutions, which may contribute to the improvement of the safe food production, are becoming increasingly important due to that. Some of the raw materials like zeolite, bentonite and diatomous clay are used to improve human, plant or animal health since they very good adsorbents of harmful materials (toxins, heavy metals, radionuclides, ammonia, carbon dioxide, methane and others). That way they contribute to the quality of the plant and animal products and to protection of the environment.
The object of the investigation is including several multidisciplinal thematic frames which are on the subjects of
The influence of one or several mineral materials used to correct pH, mobility, NH4 N, toxic metal (Pb, Cd, Zn, As) and radionuclide mobility is investigated in the soil with unfavorable physico-chemical characteristics, degraded and contaminated. The influence of physico-chemical characteristics of soil, form of toxic metals (water soluble, available, total), amount of toxic metals and radionuclides in plant tissues (roots and herbs) and their influence on plant development (height, mass of leaves and roots) is investigated in correlation with the degree of efficiency of mineral material used.
In animals, the effects of products and preparations based on the investigated mineral raw materials and other additives, on yield of meat, milk, eggs, feed conversion efficiency, reproduction, amount of residues in tissues (toxins, toxic metals, radionuclides), important chemical and biochemical blood parameters, stomach contents, quality of feed pellets (durability, water resistance) and other parameters.
The object of the investigation, input parameters and technical and technological conditions in the process of production of new products and preparations based on mineral raw materials and other mineral or organic additives.
Through laboratory (in vitro) and biological (in vivo) experiments in field and farm conditions the effectiveness of investigated products is evaluated, in order to solve certain problems and prevent disorders in the production of the safe food.
